May 22--Verizon has got your number. Or maybe not.

Some 4,000 Lexington-area residents discovered their residential numbers were not listed in the latest edition of the Verizon phone book, which began hitting doorsteps in April.

Early last week, supplements with the missing listings began hitting the mailboxes of everyone who received the phone book.

The 4,400 missing listings -- about three percent of the total white pages listings -- were for the residences of professionals -- doctors, lawyers, accountants, ministers. Their office numbers were listed in …
