May 19--As the Metropolitan Utilities District moves forward with a project that it says is essential to public safety in Omaha, a competing natural gas utility has filed a complaint with state regulators, saying MUD is acting contrary to the public's interest.
Aquila Inc., formerly Peoples Natural Gas, thinks MUD is using relocation of a natural gas transfer station as a means of "leap-frogging" into a prime growth corridor in Sarpy County -- territory Aquila considers its own.
