May 17--MORIARTY, N.M. -- Economic Development Secretary Rick Homans announced an initiative Friday to help communities attract or expand business. Homans spoke at the first meeting of the Economic Development Commission this year held in Moriarty.

The Certified Communities Initiative encourages communities to meet certain criteria in exchange for some new state incentives.
