It's difficult to choose a palette. There are so many available, from historically accurate shades to eye-popping colors that turn a residential facade into modern art.
The decision can be intimidating because a poor paint choice will be displayed from ground floor to gutters for all the world to see. And, changing schemes midstream can be an expensive proposition.
After much consideration, the Bourbonnaises selected a cool steel gray that accentuates their house's Colonial Revival pillars and window trim.
"The gray is really a neutral that lets the trim and landscape stand out," said Daniel Bourbonnais, a computer graphics designer in Fort Wayne, Ind.
