FORT WORTH, Texas _ Winning the Heisman Trophy is probably an impossible dream for Marshall quarterback Byron Leftwich. Being invited to the Heisman ceremony in New York on Dec. 14? Now that's a realistic goal.
Thundering Herd receiver Randy Moss made the Heisman ceremony in 1997, as did quarterback Chad Pennington in 1999. If Leftwich comes close to equaling the stellar season he had in 2001, he could find himself spending some December days in the Big Apple.
His coach certainly has no problem singing his quarterback's praises.
"He's a great, great player. I think he's the best quarterback I've been around or played against," Marshall coach Bob Pruett said.
