SAN JOSE, CA--Cool Chips plc revealed that its Cool Chips, wafer-thin discs claimed to produce cooling or refrigeration more efficiently and cheaply than any competing technology, use quantum mechanical electron tunneling as the primary cooling mechanism.
Prototype devices were shown publicly for the first time at the Nanotech Planet Conference in San Jose. The company had not previously disclosed the full scientific basis for its technology.
