Jun. 30--WASHINGTON -- Prospects for an Internet gambling ban this year appear bleak as sponsors of competing prohibition bills remain unable to resolve their differences.
Rep. Mike Oxley, R-Ohio, the chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, announced this week he has requested time on the House floor to debate a bill by Rep. Jim Leach, R-Iowa, that would outlaw credit cards and other bank instruments to finance online gambling.
