MIAMI -- Miami-Dade Community College student Emilio Rodriguez was greeted by President Bush at Miami International Airport in late May during his visit to South Florida for Cuban Independence Day celebrations. The meeting was in honor of Rodriguez's community service and active volunteerism.

Bush also recognized Rodriguez in his speech at the James L. Knight Center, where spoke about 100 years of Cuban Independence. Bush described Rodriguez as an exemplary student and citizen.

"When the president looked me in the eye and told me my volunteer work was valuable, it was the proudest moment of my life," said the 19-year-old student.
