CHICAGO _ After spending a night in a Florida jail, R&B musician R. Kelly regained his freedom Thursday afternoon, posting the required 10 percent of a $750,000 bond in connection with child pornography charges brought by Chicago authorities.
The 35-year-old Grammy Award-winning singer appeared at a brief hearing in a Polk County, Fla., courtroom. Clad in an orange jail uniform, he stood quietly with his hands clasped before him, frowning slightly. At times, his eyes appeared moist.
"You're not to have contact with minor children not related by blood or marriage. Do you understand?" Polk County Judge Karla Foreman Wright asked.
"Yes, ma'am," Kelly answered.
