NEW YORK--Verizon Communications has announced plans to install fuel cells as the primary electrical power source at a major call-routing center on Long Island. The project will be the largest fuel cell deployment project in the world, the company says.
Verizon plans to install seven fuel cells manufactured by UTC Fuel Cells, a unit of United Technologies Corp. The fuel cells will be installed at the company's call-switching center in Garden City, Long Island.
