ATLANTA, GA--Gov. Roy Barnes' proposal to re-regulate Georgia's natural gas market was approved in the House and Senate March 20 after Barnes and lawmakers reached a compromise agreement that salvaged the state's landmark natural gas deregulation experiment.
Lawmakers agreed to limit surcharges to $12 million per year to large industrial accounts after a coalition that included textile and pulp and paper interests lobbied heatedly against the governor's surcharge proposal. Big gas users are already paying $8 million a year ...
