1. June 26, 2001: Bourque retires

Everyone knew Ray Bourque would retire after Colorado won the Stanley Cup. But Bourque took two things away from the Avalanche - one of history's best defensemen, and the soul that drove the team to the championship.

2. July 1, 2001: Big guns re-signed
