Pro Baseball writer Ken Daley looks at 10 of the most intriguing players of the 2002 baseball draft. Because signability is a concern for some small-market teams, this is not a prediction of the top 10 picks, merely a glimpse at some of the best players available:
INTRIGUING PROSPECTS
B.J. Upton
SS, Greenbrier Christian Academy, Chesapeake, Va.
The skinny:
Upton, 17, is a five-tool prospect whom the Pirates might not be able to pass up with the first overall pick. He already shows tremendous athleticism, speed, range, throwing ability and confidence, and is projected to develop as a hitter as he matures physically.
