Results of a new study on St. John's wort may mislead consumers about the effectiveness of the popular supplement used to treat mild cases of depression.
On April 10, the Journal of the American Medical Association published the results of the study, conducted at Duke University and at 11 other US medical centers, which concluded that neither St. John's wort nor the antidepressant drug sertraline showed any measurable benefit in patients who suffer from more severe cases of depression.
