Some people will substitute candy for a nutritious meal. Most people know better. Some people think Robert James Waller writes literary fiction.
Waller, who wrote "The Bridges of Madison County," has followed up his wildly popular 1992 romance with an epilogue, "A Thousand Country Roads." In an author's note, he explains that many people wanted to know more about Robert Kincaid after he left Francesca Johnson, the love martyr of "Bridges," back in Iowa.
For those who adored the original, "A Thousand Country Roads" will be welcome. The new book has the same florid phrasings, the same glowing descriptions of Kincaid, the same deep-thought pretensions.
