First, there are several things we know about Harold Goodman. One, his nickname is "The Bee." Two, he races ATVs on a professional level. Three, his hometown is also the hometown of the Detroit International Airport: Romulus, Mich. Four, he rode his ATV naked in Huevos II. Five, he is fast.
In 1989 Goodman was crowned the Grand National Champion for the 60cc Modified (6 to 11 years old) class after winning the motocross and TT championships. His latest championship came last year in the 265 Pro-Am TT class. To put it all in perspective, some of the people Goodman races with weren't even born when he took his first championship! Understandably so, Goodman took a couple of years off from full-time racing in 2002 and 2003. But he came back for the 2004 season, and is back at it in 2005.
A string of bad luck plagued Goodman the first two rounds, but at Gatorback, the Suzuki rider found himself back in the top 10.
Goodman has long been a rider of Curtis Sparks Racing Engines and this year is no different. Goodman has a Sparks-prepped Z400 engine mounted in the chassis and a full Sparks X6 exhaust that meets the 102dB Pro-class limit. The piston is a high-compression unit built for Sparks Racing by JE Racing pistons.
Goodman is also trying a new set of tires this year. Balkrishna Tires (BKT), an Indian company, recently released a motocross tire called the X-Driv. It is available in all the popular sizes and Goodman says they are working out well on most of the tracks he's raced this season.

"The Bee" is looking forward to hitting the podium a few times this season and thinks the Z400 is the best way to get there.
