ATLANTA _ Just when it seemed the ACC race couldn[superscript one]t get any more crowded, Georgia Tech elbowed its way back into contention.

Shaken by two overtime losses earlier this season, the 23rd-ranked Yellow Jackets finally won a tough conference game, dropping No. 22 North Carolina, 28-21, on Thursday night in front of 41,893 at Bobby Dodd Stadium and a

national TV audience.

Tech (6-2, 3-2 ACC) remained alive in the unpredictable conference by beating its first ranked opponent this season. North Carolina (5-4, 4-2) had its five-game winning streak snapped. Tech and Carolina still trail Maryland and Florida State, both of which have only one conference loss.
