SAN JOSE, Calif. _ State Sen. Bruce McPherson made it official Thursday: He's running for lieutenant governor.
McPherson took out papers declaring his intent to run for the state's No. 2 job at the elections office in his hometown of Santa Cruz, then headed to Sacramento to give a campaign kick-off speech.
