Instead, Hicks announced Thursday that he picked up from the Tribe a 53-year-old onetime minor league catcher, John Hart, and from the A's a 45-year-old former college skipper, Grady Fuson.
Like Hicks' big pick up from one off-season ago, they can't pitch, either.
But maybe in their new roles, Hart as Rangers' GM and Fuson as the chief farm hand, they can find someone who can. If their track records are any indication, they should.
