ALAMEDA_At some point, some entrepreneur will come out with a video of the top 10 most gruesome football injuries ever caught on tape.
Joe Theismann's broken leg would be in there somewhere. Maybe Michael Irvin's neck injury as well.
Chances are Ed McCaffrey would be on that tape, too. In a Monday night game against the New York Giants on Sept. 10, the Denver Broncos receiver broke the tibia and the fibula in an injury that saw his left leg twist up like a pretzel.
The injury obviously ended McCaffrey's season, and immediately after it happened, people speculated on how the Broncos could make up for his absence.
Enter Rod Smith.
