NEW YORK _ When the season ended, it appeared as if the Phillies and lefthander Omar Daal were ready to part ways.
Daal was upset with manager Larry Bowa about being left out of the rotation during the pivotal series against the Atlanta Braves in the final week of the season. Bowa wasn't nearly as confident in Daal in the second half of the season as he had been in the first.
That left the Phillies with a difficult decision.
Exercise the $5 million club option for next season or pay him a $500,000 buyout and wish him well as a free agent.
The Phillies do not have to officially make that decision until five days after the World Series ...
