Neil fined for hit on Bryan Cox.(The Gazette)
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. _ And the hits keep right on coming.
That seems to be equally true of the hits dished out by the Denver Broncos offensive line and the hits the linemen are receiving each week from the league office. On Thursday, starting right guard Dan Neil was the latest to receive a hefty fine from the NFL, penalized $15,000 for his hit on New England linebacker Bryan Cox in last Sunday's 31-20 victory over the Patriots at Invesco Field.
At least the league office said it was a hit. Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said Monday that he had watched film of the play - which resulted in a broken leg for Cox - about 50 times and wasn't sure there was even contact between the players. He said it looked like Cox broke his leg ...
