DETROIT _ A statement from U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft linking three men in Michigan to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks may have violated a judge's gag order.
Defense attorneys for two of the men said Thursday that they couldn't even respond to Ashcroft's allegations because of the order issued by U.S. District Judge Gerald Rosen in Detroit on Oct. 22.
At a news conference Wednesday in Washington, D.C., Ashcroft told reporters that three men charged with possession of false documents in Detroit are suspected of having prior knowledge of the Sept. 11 attacks.
Prosecutors hadn't disclosed that suspicion before Wednesday. No one from ...
