CLEVELAND _ Ever since John Hart announced six months ago that he intended to leave his position as general manager of the Indians, it has been assumed that he would begin a parallel career as soon as a suitable job came open.
That happened Thursday, when Texas owner Tom Hicks named Hart as GM of the Rangers. Hart's hiring was anything but unexpected, given his reputation as a franchise builder and that conditions in Texas are ripe for a renewal.
The Rangers have the resources _ an owner with deep pockets and a new-generation ballpark _ and Hicks apparently has the desire to win.
