WASHINGTON _ Lawyers for the 18 states suing Microsoft will ask a federal judge Friday for more time to mull over a settlement agreement negotiated between the Justice Department and Microsoft.
After being briefed Wednesday on the settlement details, state officials immediately raised concerns that it would not go far enough to prevent Microsoft from future anti-competitive conduct.
Discussions continued on Thursday, leaving in limbo the question of whether the 18 states will join the agreement or continue their battle without Justice's deep financial and legal resources.
