TAMPA_If the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going to jump-start their sputtering offense, they'll have to do it without tailback Warrick Dunn.
The Bucs learned Monday morning that Dunn incurred a sprained right foot in Sunday's 20-16 loss at Minnesota and will be sidelined for 3-4 weeks, a considerable blow to an offense that has scored just two touchdowns in two games.
Add that to the fact that Tampa Bay (1-1) plays host to unbeaten Green Bay (3-0) this weekend in the team's home-opener at Raymond James Stadium. The Packers will come in with the NFL's No. 1-ranked defense, having allowed just 198 yards per game and a league-best 54.3 on the ground.
"We've got guys who can pick up the slack," Coach Tony Dungy said Monday. "That's what you have to do in these situations."
With Dunn out of the lineup, four-time Pro Bowl fullback Mike Alstott could return to the featured status he enjoyed in past years. Both Dungy and offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen said backups Aaron Stecker and Rabih Abdullah will figure into the equation, probably as situation substitutes.
Dunn, who has missed only one game in his five seasons, rushed for a career-high 1,133 yards and eight touchdowns last year and entered the 2001 season pegged as one of the focal points of Tampa Bay's retooled offense. Dunn carried 11 times against the Vikings for 65 yards (5.9 per carry) and a touchdown before leaving the game in the fourth quarter.
He received treatment for the injury Monday, then left team headquarters after declining to comment on his status.
