In these somber times, most of us are trying to regain our footing and adjust to what psychologists call the "new normal" _ that is, life after Sept. 11. But no one has a crystal ball, and it's impossible to predict the full-court consequences _ either here or abroad _ of the terrorist attack. Maybe that's why so many of us seem to be holding our breath about travel.

Across the country, Americans are curtailing travel plans. Some of you are saying you're afraid to fly; others say a fun cruise vacation simply isn't appropriate now.
