LOW-FAT CRUNCH

We enjoyed the crunchy texture and appealing flavor of Barry's Bakery French Twists in Maple French Toast flavor. The sweet treats are topped with sugar and cinnamon, and will appeal to those on restricted diets. Each puffed pastry twist has about 40 calories, 1.5 grams of fat and no cholesterol. They also are egg- and dairy-free. Other flavors in the French Twist line include original, wild raspberry, chocolate chip and cafe mocha. Each 4.5-ounce package costs about $2.50 at supermarkets.

THREE PIZZAS, FIVE CHEFS

Three new flavors of Freschetta pizza are the product of the company's Culinary Council of five consulting chefs, including Tony Mantuano of Spiaggia. The results _ Southwest chicken (starring poblano peppers and roasted red onion), garlic chicken with asiago cheese, and margherita _ proved successful, though everyone had a different favorite. The Margherita, with its classic blend of tomatoes and basil, won the most votes. The 8-inch pizzas have a crisp crust and cost about $4.50 each at supermarkets.
