Calling this CD "The Voice" is utter fraud. With its ocean of echo effects, kiddie choirs and synthesizers, "The Electronics" would be a more honest title, since the voice Russell Watson takes so seriously (to judge by the immense ego revealed in the liner notes) is a constricted and throaty amateur tenor, with no true legato and only the most superficial connection to the music. Nevertheless, Watson -- a new-comer whose age is anywhere from twenty-seven to thirty-four, depending on which British tabloid you consult -- has been trumpeted as a rising star by his recording company.
