In the spirit of promoting "the general welfare," Congressman Burton's Government Reform Committee held a hearing, in Washington D.C., recently, entitled: "Six Years After the Enactment of DSHEA: The Status of National and International Dietary Supplement Regulation and Research." Better Nutrition's publisher, Danny Vincent, and I were there in an effort to help protect the health freedoms we all enjoy today.

DSHEA, or the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994, is the main legislation that covers the regulation and sale of dietary supplements.

Although TV and newspaper stories continually chant the mantra that the dietary supplement industry is a Wild West boom-town loaded with outlaws exploiting a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that's been emasculated by the Big Bad Supplement Industry, since DSHEA's passage, there have never been stronger--or better--protections for you, the consumer.
