A U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) panel recently said that it's theoretically possible that people taking dietary supplements could be exposed to bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), or mad cow disease.

Members of this panel were reportedly concerned that supplement manufacturers may import bovine products from countries with infected cattle.
