DARLINGTON, S.C. _ Jeff Burton didn't so much win as survive Saturday's South Carolina 200 Busch Series race at Darlington Raceway. Some others weren't as lucky.
"The thing was going on, and I saw them covering the car and cutting him out and I thought, `God, surely this isn't really bad,' " said Burton, who also is racing in Sunday's Southern 500 Winston Cup race.
"But as hard as we're working on safety and everything, this shows you that we are going fast, and things will happen."
Burton was speaking of a scary crash involving fellow Winston Cup regular Steve Park that occurred during the running of the preliminary to today's big race.
