BRADENTON, Fla. _ A 20-year-old Palmetto man may have lost his life because he tried to protect a woman from a violent ex-boyfriend, family members and officials said Tuesday.
Wajid Coleman was found dead Monday morning in a field in south Manatee County, according to sheriff's reports. Sheriff's officials said Coleman died as a result of "trauma" to the upper body not long after he was last seen Monday.
Coleman's death is being investigated as a homicide. Authorities said one suspect is Terence Johnson, 26, who is in jail charged with a sexual assault that happened at Coleman's home the night of his disappearance.
