MEDINA, Ohio _ Experts are being brought in from as far away as Canada to help determine a cause of Sunday's fatal steam-powered tractor explosion at the Medina County Fairgrounds.
Sheriff Neil Hassinger said he is looking to the expertise of steam-boiler experts ranging from tractor enthusiasts to college professors to an inspector with the Canadian government charged with certifying similar equipment there.
The theories being explored by investigators run the gamut from the 1918 Case 110 HP steam tractor running low on water to a safety valve failure failing to alert the operator of a build-up of steam pressure to a leak in the engine compartment.
