Cool pools: Homeowners get creative with splashy projects.(Knight Ridder Newspapers)
COLUMBUS, Ga. _ Tina and Kelly Tyler love Hawaii.
They love the crystal-blue water, the tropical flowers and the relaxing atmosphere.
But they don't love the trip.
"It takes about nine hours to get there," said Kelly Tyler, 60. "That's too long. With the time change, traveling is just exhausting."
So last year, the couple brought Hawaii to Columbus _ specifically, to their back yard.
After a nine-month construction project, the Tylers had their own 40-by-40-foot custom-built pool.
"It took so long because there was a hill in our back yard that had to be scaled down," said Tina Tyler, 58.
