As biblical characters go, Jabez had at best a cameo role. But the obscure Old Testament figure's 26-word prayer was the basis for a major bestseller.
Just after Koz, right before Chelub, Jabez is included in the roll call of family lineages and one-name notables in the Scriptures. Plucked from this relative obscurity, Jabez and his prayer as examined by Georgia author and Baptist pastor Bruce Wilkinson have captivated millions.
