PHILADELPHIA _ Normally, Robert Auch would be playing golf on a gorgeous day at Plymouth Country Club. Instead, on Friday, he was on the clubhouse patio in a sport jacket, eager to get back on the course once his doctor gave him the OK.

"It's driving me nuts," he said of life without golf. "It's total boredom. But, believe me, it's nice to be alive."

Auch, 57, a Plymouth member with a history of heart trouble, is a lucky man.

Last spring, officials at Plymouth purchased two defibrillators and trained some employees - including head professional Chris Hanson and assistant pro Scott Nielsen _ in the operation of the life-saving devices.
