NEWPORT NEWS, Va._A suspect in the recent late-night shooting death of a Hampton University student read about the crime on the Daily Press newspaper's Web site in Montana Monday night, then blurted to a woman in the room that he killed the victim, a witness told police.
The man's admission prompted the woman's boyfriend to call the newspaper Tuesday morning to verify facts. A reporter related the suspect's whereabouts to Newport News Detective J.T. Williams, who contacted police in Livingston, Mont., a town of about 7,500.
