SAN FRANCISCO _ With final results announced Monday, Jeff Kent and Rich Aurilia are poised to become the first double-play combination voted into the National League All-Star lineup since 1985.
At last check, Kent led by 181,919 over Houston second baseman Craig Biggio. Aurilia was 195,225 votes ahead of Cincinnati shortstop Barry Larkin.
The Giants duo would be the first N.L. middle-infield combination voted in since shortstop Ozzie Smith and second baseman Tom Herr of the St. Louis Cardinals.
"That would be a heck of a tribute to them and to the organization," Giants Manager Dusty Baker said.
