STAFFORD, Texas _ Six months ago, J.C. Wingo was selling XFL souvenir football helmets because the World Wrestling Federation spinoff had such a great future. Now, he's perfecting a pitch that emphasizes the ex-league's interesting past.
That's what happens when you have a five-year exclusive contract that ends after one year, leaving you overstocked by more than 5,000 helmets. The end came May 10, just 13 weeks after the gaudy league's heavily hyped kickoff Feb. 3.
