MINNEAPOLIS _ Brian Moehler's wait between starts will last for a year _ at the least.
The right-hander hasn't pitched since the second game this season. He is due to have his shoulder injury determined and corrected when Dr. John Conway, a Texas Rangers orthopedist, performs season-ending surgery on him today.
But today's operation carries no guarantee that Moehler will be ready for the start of next season. Tigers trainer Russ Miller made that clear when asked if he foresees any scenario under which Moehler wouldn't be ready to pitch when spring training opens.
