CLEVELAND _ The Indians' rotation won't get immediate help, but the Tribe recalled Danys Baez from Buffalo Sunday night to help stabilize the bullpen.
With the starters averaging 3 innings the past six games, any Cleveland reliever capable of pitching more than one inning at a time is fried. In that respect, Baez is not the ideal pitcher for the job description.
Since being switched from a starter to a reliever early in the season, he has been groomed to be a closer, though at times he is asked to throw more than one inning at Triple-A.
"We need someone who can give us two or three innings," Manager Charlie Manuel said after the Tribe suffered a 13-11 loss to the Royals Sunday.
