Ichiro: Too old for a rookie?(The Dallas Morning News)
ARLINGTON, Texas _ When he made his initial visit to The Ballpark in Arlington, he was a novelty. A curiosity. And the baseball season was less than a week old.
When Ichiro Suzuki returns with the Seattle Mariners on Monday, he arrives as the leading vote-getter among American League All Stars. He arrives as a serious contender for the Most Valuable Player award. If there were a Most Entertaining Player award, he would have no rivals.
Leading the league in batting, hits and stolen bases and battling the Rangers' Alex Rodriguez for the lead in runs, Ichiro has experienced a phenomenal first year in the major leagues.
