Vonage has picked up yet another $200 million in venture capital, bringing its total to date to a breathtaking $408 million - the kind of VC funding that's not been seen since the dot-com bust and reportedly the seventh largest VC round of any sort since 1995. The cash looks to be a war chest for Vonage to move beyond its current status as just a provider of voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services. The $200 million follows a $105 million round last August.

The latest round of investment in Vonage was led by Bain Capital, with what was described as "strong participation" from existing investors including New Enterprise Associates, 3i, Meritech Capital…
