IN 2004, MICHAEL YOUNG HAD ONE of the most productive seasons of any player in the major leagues. He collected a club record 216 hits, and he finished ninth in the American League with a .313 batting average.
In his fourth full season in the major leagues, Young achieved career highs in most offensive categories, including home runs (22) and runs batted in (99).
He also had a team-record 70 multi-hit games during last season. For his accomplishments, Young finished eighth in the American League Most Valuable Player voting, and he was selected to the American League All-Star team for the first time.
