DELHI, India, May 5 (UPI) -- Private groups called on India to speed the fight against AIDS in the nation that now leads South Africa in the number of living AIDS victims.
India, where surveys showed up to 40 percent of the rural population had never heard of AIDS, has been slow to increase funding and programs to fight the deadly disease.
