Sep. 27--Fairchild Publications believes the name of its revamped home furnishings magazine - InFurniture - describes what it is all about.
But just in case, Fairchild officials have decided shooting InFurniture's inaugural cover in the heart of downtown High Point should get the point across.
Fairchild officials have contracted with the city of High Point to block off Main Street from 6 p.m. to midnight today for the photography shoot. The section of Main Street will be detoured beginning at English Road and Russell Avenue.
"We had a request from Fairchild that they wanted to do something unique with the cover of its new publication," Assistant City Manager Pat Pate said Monday.
"Since they are a High Point publication, and they are picking up the expense the city is incurring for the photo shoot with the barricades and the police officers, we agreed to their request.
"In this instance, we don't believe it will be a major inconvenience to High Point residents, and may benefit the city with added publicity of the city as the furniture capital of the world," Pate said.
