Steel targets are available in many sizes and configurations. Perhaps the most useful for training is a simple IPSC target, approximately 18"x30" with a 6"x6" head. With reasonable loads, such a target will last indefinitely with no more maintenance than an occasional coat of paint. Currently such a target, with a portable base, can be purchased for around $85 to $100.
