Goodbye client-server, hello peer-to-peer (P2P). And it's mostly thanks to the ongoing Napster controversy.
* P2P lets client computers, namely PCs, directly share some or all of their files and other resources, such as processing power and storage capacity, with one another.
Considering that most companies use less than 25% of their total processing and storage capacity (according to University of Wisconsin research), the performance and financial ramifications of P2P's rebirth for business computing could be huge. Intel alone was able to save $500 million dollars over the past 10 years by using an inhouse P2P network.
