FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. _ The winds blow optimistic in Fort Lauderdale this week as the boat capital of the world prepares to host what some say will be the best Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show yet.
The show _ from Thursday to Oct. 30 _ has attracted 1,600 exhibitors this year and observers expect that factors including the tumultuous conditions in the nation's stock markets will not harm boat sales.
"All indications show that the interest in boats remains strong," said Frank Herhold, executive director of Marine Industries Association of South Florida (MIASF). "Consumer interest remains strong as ever."
